Risk Identification, Assessment, and Allocation in PPP Projects: A Systematic Review

Public private partnerships (PPPs) have gained widespread adoption as an innovative way of procuring public infrastructure projects over the last two decades. Risk identification, assessment, and allocation received considerable attention from researchers due to risk heavy nature PPP projects. Adoption PPPs has triggered a sudden increase in research interest area recent years. This study attempts provide updated systematic review literature related risks using PRISMA flowchart. The results offer some valuable insights into future current state research. found that focus on shifted overall identification assessment approach individual analysis. Moreover, this trend is rise developing countries, quantitative methods for management qualitative practice are preferred. In developed economies, negative sentiments, transparency concerns, arguments value money not being achieved, becoming less popular. For these reasons shift availability-based payment mechanisms such Design-Build-Finance-Maintain (DBFM) traditional revenue-based Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) been observed. These shifts trends opportunities investigate relatively newer approaches.
